So inspired with your beautiful necklaces!!!Have been driving myself crazy with bead crotchet. Have tried many threads and not happy with any. What thread do you use?

Hi Louise. I use c-Lon thread in either fine or micro weight. I’m using size 11 vintage Italian seed beads at the moment so the holes are not consistent. Driving me a little nuts but I wanted to use some of my stash. Starting it and getting good tension is the hardest part . Sometimes I rip out the beginning after I finish the necklace. Good luck

Thank you! I have c-lon but it seemed so stiff. I’ll give it another try. And yes! The beginning is a problem. Great idea to take out the beginning when you are finished. Have been buying books. One called “Euro the other bead crotchet”. But I don’t see a difference between it and regular crotchet. Do you see a difference? Love your writing! Look forward to your musings!! Thanks!

There are 2 types of bead crochet. When you work with 5 - 9 beads in the round it’s a slip stitch. These necklaces with 24 - 32 beads in a round you bring a bead up and then do a single crochet in the stitch in the round below which locks the bead in place. A subtle difference but the first technique doesn’t work for so many beads in the round. I watched a video years ago. Let me see if I can find it for you.
