In my opinion, pizza is the best food possible. And since I can remember, Sunday night is pizza night. I remember my parents heading out to Bottisti’s pizzeria. Mom and I preferred mushrooms and Dad preferred sausage. So we got a sausage and mushroom half and half pizza.
I have been making my own pizza at home every Sunday night. Last week was a 5 cheese pizza. The extra special ingredient I add is a smear of pepper jelly on the crust before I add the toppings. It adds a hint of sweetness.
This year I decided that twice a month we will venture out to a local pizzeria on Sunday just to see what’s out there. So far we’ve tried two places… Z Pizza in Oro Valley and Catalina Craft Pizza in Catalina AZ. Both were pretty good. And it’s fun getting out and about.
My all time favorite pizza is Neopolitan pizza which is just tomatoes and cheese. Authentic versions require the tomatoes to be San Marzano tomatoes, grown in the volcanic ash soil just south of Mt Vesuvius, and buffalo mozzarella. My Grandmother was from Naples Italy and she perfected this type of pizza. And the crust had to be thin. Of course second choice is Chicago deep dish pizza. One of the best things I discovered when we lived in Chicago.
When we were in Venice I found a great pizzeria and had to indulge a few times.
Speaking of Venice, it’s the home of glass making. The International Society of Glass Beadmakers hosted a contest for lampworkers and the beads were displayed in Venice. No, I didn’t submit an entry. Wish I had. Anyway, shout out to Jennie Lamb for her winning bead.
Second Ear Piercing
I want a second or maybe even a third ear piercing. Having said that, I also say, I’m 76 do I really want to do this? But I really want to do it. I’m just nervous about an infection. I’ve hesitated for a long time because my daughters said if I wanted a piercing I needed to go to a tattoo parlor to get it done properly and I could never envision myself walking into a tattoo parlor. But…. a shop just opened near me and piercings are done by licensed nurses. Love these stacks!

Oh, reading a new book for book club…. The Lost Apothecary by Sarah Penner. Wouldn’t have chosen this book on my own, but it’s good. I’m especially enjoying the audio version because the reader is perfect.
I have been resisting buying new clothes - low buy year this year. Instead I am culling my closet and I am listing some of my better pieces in my Poshmark store. I am succeeding in styling many pieces I haven’t worn in awhile.
Gem shows will be opening here in Tucson soon. I’m getting excited to attend this ear. Stay tuned and I will tell you all about the shows I visit. Plus I will see many friends as they descend here to purchase all things jewelry related.
Have a great week…
Love your musings.
Enjoy and have a slice for me!
