So I took a few months off… I was still musing. I just didn’t share.
But I’ll catch you all up.
The photo is an image of a ring I made a few years ago. It is part of the Desert Bloom Collection and this series all had rubies and diamonds. I got all the pieces out that I kept. I like to wear them in July to celebrate July’s birthstone - the ruby (king of the precious gems).
In the meantime I want to talk about plastic……
There was an opinion piece in today’s Sunday paper that spoke to me. “Participate in Plastic Free July and say ‘NO’ to single-use-plastic”.
This is a good way for individuals to get involved, to think about what they are buying, and make some permanent changes.
We all know that plastics are piling up in land fills with no hope of it distintegrating. But it’s not just about waste. Plastics are made from fossil fuel chemicals. In the US fracking is involved in their manufacture which releases an array of toxic substances into the air. And plastic production is a major component of climate change. Recycling should helped, but I’ve read that in actuality recycling single use plastic is low.
Reducing our use of single-use plastic is doable. And small changes made my millions of people can make a difference.
There is a website where you can sign up for this July challenge… www.plasticfreejuly.org. They will send you some tips to keep you motivated.
I just purchased a new glass water bottle and these flavor packets. I love Vitamin water but will not buy it anymore.
I also purchased these Stasher bags. One stasher bag keeps 260 single use plastic bags out of oceans every year.
So think about it…. try it for a month. I really want Earth to be around for my grandchild.
I hope this little musing finds everyone well and happy. Thanks for all of you who checked in on me. I have a lot to share with you from the past few months.
