Movie Night
Friday afternoons used to be movie day. We would head out to the local theater for a 5 o’clock show and then stop out for dinner. Nothing fancy - maybe just a burger or pizza. But Covid ended going to a theater for us and we never picked up the habit again. Instead Friday night is movie night and we search Netflix or Hulu or Prime for something to watch.
Friday we watched The Taking of Pelham 123 - the 2009 remake. It was good, but I really enjoyed the 1974 film with Walter Matthau.
I like to curl up in a great blanket on the couch when watching TV - and I need a new one. I’m thinking of crocheting a granny square afghan. Here is one I like but I would choose different colors. It’s a good way to use up some yarn
Of course I could challenge myself and make it three dimensional. I am a fan of Sophie Digard. Here is one I love
.
I also like to get in my pj’s for the Friday night movie. Except I don’t wear pj’s. But I’m eyeing this sleep shirt.
Spring Fashion
I have been thinking about spring fashion and ordering a few pieces. It’s time to put away my cashmere sweaters and I realize I am really lacking in some long sleeve cotton t-shirts which are good transition pieces until its really warm enough to go out in just a t-shirt. My go to brand is Eileen Fisher. I love their linen t-shirts. And I’m hooked on this color called Grove.
Me and My Torch
So I showed you the first piece of jewelry I made over 30 years ago in a previous blog. Let’s move along in the retrospective. After I tired of stitching with seed beads, I discovered lampworked beads in 1997. Who ever thought I would buy a torch and play with fire on a daily basis to create glass beads. There is a steep learning curve to making the perfect bead and adding just the right decoration. It took nearly a year before I was really happy with the beads I made. Here is a necklace I still wear that features many styles of beads I am fond of making. Or you can watch the video… Here is the video…
Moon Landing
I watched the first moon landing way back in 1969. And here we are again.
This spacecraft has already accomplished a historic feat, becoming the first commercial spacecraft to soft-land on the moon, and the first US-made vehicle to touch down on the lunar surface since the Apollo program ended more than five decades ago. This mission is of key interest to Intuitive Machines’ primary customer, NASA, which is seeking to scout the moon using robotic explorers developed by private contractors before sending astronauts there later this decade.
Book suggestion ……. read Artemis by Andy Weir.
Next week is the last week of February. 2024 is really flying by. Hope your week is spectacular!
