I can’t believe it’s March. The days and then the weeks seem to be flying by. I really love this time of the year in Tucson. The mornings are still brisk so my morning walk is delightful. The sun is shining most days. The sky is its usual turquoise blue, and by the afternoon it’s in the mid 70’s. It’s because of these days in the spring and fall that I can suffer through 100 degree days in the summer.
I never was conscious of the fact that I am a visual learner and planner. My left brain dominated most of my working years and where would I be without my todo list. But eventually my creative self broke free. So I like to create a monthly mood board to set the tone for the month. I always did this while designing my jewelry. I also love the idea of a monthly color. For March it would have to be green. Spring is blooming. Green is the color of emerging daffodils. I loved seeing them peeking through the snow when I lived in Ohio. Definitely worth the back breaking work it took to plant those bulbs! And green is the color of new beginnings and hope and joy. Of course there is St Patrick’s Day too. Who doesn’t love a green river in Chicago - lived there for 12 years!
I’m also a little obsessed with color at the moment. I just had an online color analysis done. I’m waiting for the final report, but I have to say I’m a little surprised with the results. Surprised and happy. Almost 50 years ago when color analysis became a thing, I was classified as an autumn. And those certainly are colors that I love. But more recently I have noticed that some of those colors are not as flattering on me as they used to be, and some of the neutrals that I have been wearing wash me out. Perhaps it’s that I’m pretty much 90% gray now. But whatever, I decided to try an online color consultation. And as luck would have it at that exact moment I was invited to join a group on Facebook led by Kari Talhaug Juvik . The group is called Colors In Style by Kari Community. And after several photo submissions by me we had a zoom session where I learned that she classified me as a deep cool maybe leading to winter. Dont’t know the exact findings yet, but I am definitely not a warm autumn that I had believed for years. Make that 2 perceptions in my life that I got wrong. Okay, not wrong … things change.
I do not plan to run out and buy all new colorful clothes now, but I will be adjusting my neutrals and adding accents of color that flatters me. Might need to make some new jewelry too.
Here’s my March mood board. Some green dresses, a raffia bag, new shoes, a TV program that we might watch and jewelry inspiration.
Thanks for sharing another Sunday with me. Let me know if you create mood boards….
